Today at about 5pm CORD through ODM communication officer Philip Etale and their Bloggers went about spreading propaganda aimed to portray Jubilee on the bad light. Mr Philip Etale posted claiming that the Gusii MCAs have rejected the ‘offer’ by President Uhuru Kenyatta to Join Jubilee. He further alleged that the Gusii Leaders claimed that they would not be “auctioned”.

Well the Truth is that nothing about the MCAs joining Jubilee was discussed. We have as well established that they only discussed issues on development around the counties as two parties, Presidency and the County leadership. It will be insane for Jubilee to try such a reckless move of inviting all MCAs in a single day and entice them to join Jubilee. Surely there are better ways to lobby for their support. ODM is desperate to reap from every situation unfolding.

ODM is keen to portray itself as still intact and that Jubilee is the bad one on this by trying to ‘buy’ out the MCAs.

Meanwhile:

President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Nairobi, met Kisii and Nyamira Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) to discuss development in the two counties.

Addressing the meeting with MCAs, which was also attended by Deputy President William Ruto, President Kenyatta emphasised his desire to work with leaders from all parts of the country regardless of political affiliation for the benefit of all Kenyans.

“I am convinced that majority of Kenyans want peace, stability, development and unity. That is why, as leaders, we must walk the path that will unite the country,” President Kenyatta said.

He added: “We would like to work with you for the benefit of the people of Nyamira and Kisii.”

The meeting was attended by 87 MCAs, 58 of them from Kisii while 29 were from Nyamira county.

The President pointed out that the quest to unite all Kenyans was the main driving force behind formation of the Jubilee Party.

He underscored the need to have fewer political parties with a national outlook that will compete on the basis of policies and development agenda not ethnicity.

“Divisive politics and hatred will not help this country achieve its development targets,” the President said.

Responding to development issues raised by the Kisii and Nyamira leaders, President Kenyatta said his administration is focused on implementing projects that will benefit people in the two counties.

The President cited roads, hospital and dams as some of the ongoing projects that have been fast-tracked in the two counties, saying Sh400 million has been set aside for Nyamira Level Five Hospital upgrade while Sh380 million will go to Keroka Hospital.

Deputy President Ruto expressed optimism that the people of Nyamira and Kisii will make the right decision and support Jubilee Party in 2017.

“There are people who think with their hearts and make emotional decisions but the people of Kisii and Nyamira think with their heads and will make a rational decision in 2017,” the Deputy President said.

The Gusii leaders, who included Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Joash Nyamoko and both minority and majority leaders from the two counties, assured the President and his Deputy of their support.

They said the Gusii people have witnessed the development implemented in their counties and have resolved to work with the Government in its transformational agenda.

The leaders invited President Kenyatta and Deputy President Ruto to visit the two counties to interact and have a closer discussion with people at the grassroots level
