ELDERS from eight communities have endorsed Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu to vie for the Narok governor’s in next year’s elections.
The communities are Purko, Loita, Ildamat, Keenyoki, Siria, Moitanik, Uasin Gishu and Kipsigis.
In a ceremony at Ntutu’s home in Nkorinkori on Monday, the 26 elders and 23 religious leaders prayed for him before handing him a traditional rungu as a sign of leadership.
They told Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno to be Ntutu’s running mate.
Ntutu is now expected to face Governor Samuel Tunai and former ICT PS Joseph Tiampati in the race.
Senator Stephen ole Ntutu, the MP’s elder brother, and Ng’eno endorsed him.
The elders’ committee chairman Hassan ole Kamwaro said the communities have decided to back Ntutu after he demonstrated good leadership.
“I’m the chairman of the committee tasked by the communities to choose the flag bearer for the governor’s seat. Tiampati emerged the winner while Narok West legislator was second. However, residents have rejected Tiampati and want Ntutu,” he said.
